I tried out a couple of installers lately, starting with did not work at all, for similar reasons (Mini-PC, no DVD). But 650 MB cannot be a "full" installation, can it?.

With the correct ISO file? I checked and I saw a 250 MB netinstall and a 650MB xfce-CD install. So you DID start already with a debian USB Stick? (it = the debian? or it = the PC?)
